When looking for the ideal moving company in College Station, there are a few questions that should be on your list to ask the associate that picks up the phone.

The first one that the majority of people probably don’t know about is, “What is your TxDMV number and how much insurance do you carry?” Like I said before, the state of Texas requires all interstate and intrastate moving businesses to have an active DMV number and at least $5,000 in cargo insurance and $300,000 in liability insurance. If they can’t answer that question, move on to the next in line.

“Do you charge hourly or per bedroom?” There are many pricing systems moving companies adopt and the two most common are by time and by volume of stuff. Decide how long you think it will take to load all your furniture, multiply that by their hourly rate, and see if it fits your budget. If you have a small number of bedrooms, it might be better to go for a flat rate per room so that no matter how long it takes, you are only paying for the weight instead of the wait.

“What is your fuel rate?” All moving companies will charge per mile to determine the cost of gas. Some will be higher than others, so if you have a long distance move in mind, make sure you’re getting the best deal.
